Love sidelined by sore Achilles' tendon

Last update: July 20, 2008 - 11:15 PM

LAS VEGAS — Kevin Love was held out of the Timberwolves' 111-91 summer league victory over New York on Sunday in Las Vegas for precautionary reasons because of an inflamed left Achilles' tendon.

Love, acquired from Memphis in a trade of first-round draft picks, left in the second half of the Wolves' game Saturday against the Milwaukee Bucks because of the same injury, which team officials don't consider severe.

Love was expected to practice later Sunday with the U.S. national team at a local high school. He was added to the select team Saturday as an extra body for practice in preparation for the Olympics.

Love, the fifth overall selection in last month's draft, averaged a league-best 13.5 rebounds in four summer contests. He added 18 points per game. His top game was Friday, when he scored 26 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in an 88-78 Wolves victory over Portland.

• Pops Mensah-Bonsu scored 21 points, shooting 8-for-12 from the field, and pulled down eight rebounds in Sunday's victory over the Knicks. Corey Brewer scored 10 points.

Was at the Vikes vs Jags game, and was right behind the Vikes bench!! It was great!! This is a great shot of Peterson and Rice after a good run by AP.
