Adelman’s tenure

Rick Adelman, who called it quits as Wolves coach Monday, described his three-year tenure this way in his farewell news conference:

Year I 2011-12

His words: “Changed some of the culture’’

What happened: Of the players Adelman inherited after replacing Kurt Rambis in a lockout-shortened season, key subtractions by the time he assembled his second team included Michael Beasley, Anthony Randolph, Darko Milicic, Martel Webster and former first-round picks Wes Johnson and Wayne Ellington.

Record: 26-40

Year II 2012-13

His words: “All the injuries’’

What happened: Kevin Love missed all but 18 games because of a broken hand and knee problems, Ricky Rubio missed the season’s first six weeks rehabbing from knee surgery, and Nikola Pekovic, Andrei Kirilenko and Chase Budinger missed time because of injuries. And don’t forget the failed Brandon Roy experiment.

Record: 31-51

Year III 2013-14

His words: “Disappointing’’

What happened: The Wolves through Jan. 15 — a period during which they were relatively healthy — were an incredible 0-11 in games decided by four points or fewer. They simply could not win key games; their first 10 chances to go over .500 resulted in a loss.

Record: 40-42
