Royce White called up by Sacramento

The Sacramento Bee reported that White hasn't yet joined the Kings on their current road trip, so it is unlikely he will play against the Timberwolves Sunday at Target Center.

The Sacramento Kings recalled Royce White from their affiliate in the NBA’s Development League on Thursday, then signed him to a second 10-day contract. But when he will actually appear in a Kings uniform is unclear.

White, according to the Sacramento Bee, has not joined the Kings on the road – Sacramento is on a seven-game road trip that ends Sunday against the Timberwolves at Target Center – so it’s unlikely White will be with the team Sunday.

The Bee said White would be available when the Kings host Washington on Tuesday.

The 6-9 White, a Minneapolis native, was a star first at De La Salle and then at Hopkins. He committed to the University of Minnesota, but off-the-court issues prompted him to leave Minnesota, ultimately ending up at Iowa State, where he played for one season.

He was drafted with the 16th overall pick in the 2012 draft by Houston, but he never played for the Rockets after he and the team could not agree on how to treat his anxiety disorder, a component of which includes a fear of flying

White missed training camp in the fall of 2012. After refusing an assignment to the Rockets’ D-League team, White was suspended by the Rockets in January of 2013.

Traded to Philadelphia in July, White was waived by the 76ers before the regular season began. The Kings signed him to the first 10-day contract March 6 and assigned him to the Reno Bighorns, where he averaged 8.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists in 24.8 minutes in four games.
