Wolves-San Antonio game preview

  • Updated: January 11, 2014 - 10:17 PM

6 p.m. at San Antonio • FSN, 830-AM

Preview: The 28-8 Spurs own the Western Conference’s best record and are second in the league to only Indiana’s 29-7 mark. They also haven’t played a game since Wednesday, when they beat Dallas 112-90 at home. They have won their past three games, six of their past seven and 13 of 17. But, oddly, they own a better road record (14-3) than home mark (14-5). … The Spurs won the first of four meetings between the teams this season 117-110 in San Antonio last month. They split the four-game season series a year ago.

Players to watch: Wolves star Kevin Love tied a franchise record by making eight three-pointers and scored 42 the last time these team met. But Spurs guard Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili combined to score 28 points in the fourth quarter alone in that Dec. 13 Spurs victory at AT&T Center. Parker’s 29 points that night are his season high. He has led his team in scoring 16 times and in assists 20 in their 36 games. He’s also the only Spurs player averaging 30 minutes or more. …The San Antonio bench is among the league’s best: It leads the NBA in scoring (46 ppg), assists (11.7) and point differential (4.6) and it’s scored 50 points or more in a game nine times. The Spurs’ bench outscored the Wolves’ bench 55-12 last month, but the Wolves were without injured Chase Budinger and Ronny Turiaf then.

Injuries: Wolves none. Spurs C Tiago Splitter (sprained right shoulder) is out; Ginobili (hamstring) is questionable.
