Jerry Zgoda missed the entire Kevin Garnett era, but he's back covering the Timberwolves after working the beat for their first four seasons two decades ago. In between, he covered a bit of everything: Gopher men's and women's basketball and NCAA athletics, golf, outdoor recreation, sports media and a little Vikings and Twins.

Wolves looking to get back to .500

Posted by: Kent Youngblood under Wolves pre-game Updated: December 28, 2013 - 6:56 PM

Greetings from the BMO Harris Bradley Center, where the Wolves will try to finish off the back-to-back with another victory.

A win here tonight against the Bucks would give the Wolves consecutive victories for just the fourth time this season, would get the team back to .500 and end a three-game road losing streak.

And the Bucks’ injury situation might help them do that. Center John Henson is out for tonight’s game with an ankle issue. That means Larry Sanders, who returned to action Friday, will have to start. Sanders played in the first three games of the season before sustaining a torn ligament in his right thumb in a bar fight, returned last night and played 23 minutes, with 10 points and seven rebounds.

So Sanders figures to be on a minutes limit, and Henson is hurt. That means all the Bucks big men will be in action at some point tonight as Milwaukee tries to slow Kevin Love and Nikola Pekovic.

Meanwhile, the Wolves have to figure out a way to avoid the let down they’ve had too often after impressive wins. It happened last week, when the Wolves followed up an impressive home win against Portland with a stinker against the injury-riddled Los Angeles Lakers. Same thing the week before that, when a victory at Memphis was followed up with a bad loss in Boston.

“We’ve been up and down all year,” Wolves coach Rick Adelman said. “We’ll have a good game, then we’ll revert back. Tonight we have to come out and be consistent. That’s what it’s going to take.”

That’s about it for now. I’ll get back to you after the game.
