Brewer, Love to play for Wolves in Las Vegas

Last update: July 3, 2008 - 9:27 PM

New Timberwolf Kevin Love and second-year swingman Corey Brewer headline the team's Las Vegas summer-league team, which also includes former Gophers Vincent Grier and Dan Coleman.

Four college players the Wolves brought to Target Center last month for predraft workouts are on the roster: Coleman, Michigan State guard Drew Neitzel, Oregon guard Bryce Taylor and Oklahoma forward Longar Longar, who played at Rochester John Marshall.

So, too, are NBA Developmental League guard Blake Ahearn, the league's Rookie of the Year who played 12 games with Miami at the end of last season, and former University of Portland guard Pooh Jeter.

Second-year Wolves forward Chris Richard, a restricted free agent whose re-signing seems a foregone conclusion, joins Love and Brewer on the team. It begins workouts in Las Vegas on Thursday and plays the first of five games on July 14 against Dallas.

• Bob Ociepka, a Timberwolves assistant coach for the past two seasons, was named to new Chicago coach Vinny Del Negro's staff on Thursday, along with veteran NBA coaches Bernie Bickerstaff and Del Harris.

• Former Timberwolf Gerald Green, traded to Houston in February and then waived shortly thereafter, signed a one-year minimum contract with Dallas.

• Gilbert Arenas has agreed to re-sign with the Wizards for $111 million over six years.

• Chris Paul and the Hornets reached agreement on a three-year extension for $68 million with a player's option for a fourth year.

• Free-agent point guard Chris Duhon could finalize contract terms with either the Magic or the Knicks by the end of the week. Duhon is expected to receive a $10 million offer from the Magic.

• Free-agent forward Corey Maggette is considering joining the Celtics, who can offer only their midlevel exception, worth $5.9 million.
