Remaking the Wolves (again)
New Wolves President of Basketball Operations Flip Saunders remade the roster this summer, spending nearly $120 million in guaranteed contracts to do so.
F Andrei Kirilenko: Opted out of $10.2 million contract for this season and signed for $3.1 million with Brooklyn after turning down multiyear offer from Wolves worth more than twice that annually.
F Mickael Gelabale: Contract expired in July, not re-signed.
G Malcolm Lee: Traded to Phoenix via Golden State to clear nearly $1 million for summer spending spree.
G Luke Ridnour: Traded to Milwaukee in July deal that brought Kevin Martin from Oklahoma City in a sign-and-trade arrangement.
G Brandon Roy: Released in May from final, non-guaranteed season of a two-year, $10 million contract.
C Greg Stiemsma: Released in July before $2.5 million salary was guaranteed for this season. Signed soon after by New Orleans.
C Nikola Pekovic: Restricted free agent re-signed last week to five-year, $60M contract.
G Kevin Martin: Legitimately sized shooting guard (6-7) signed to four-year deal worth nearly $28 million.
F Chase Budinger: Rick Adelman favorite returned to Wolves with three-year, $15M deal.
F Corey Brewer: Brought back to team that drafted him with three-year, $14M deal.
C Ronny Turiaf: Veteran big-man signed to two-year, $3.2 deal because of his interior defense and leadership.
F/G Shabazz Muhammad: Polarizing scorer selected 14th overall after Wolves swung draft-night deal with Utah to trade ninth pick for two first-round picks.
