Preview: The Wolves are coming off a home loss to Golden State in a game they led after three quarters. It was the 10th time this season the Wolves lost after entering the fourth quarter either tied or leading. The Suns' loss to San Antonio on Sunday gave Phoenix the worst record in the Western Conference (18-39). Phoenix interim coach Lindsey Hunter, his team out of the playoff mix, has begun experimenting with his rotation, giving twins Marcus and Markieff Morris and former Wolves player Wes Johnson more playing time. Reserves Shannon Brown and former Wolves forward Michael Beasley have seen their minutes reduced.
Players to watch: Wolves PG Ricky Rubio is coming off consecutive games with at least 10 points and at least five assists, rebounds and steals. F Derrick Williams has averaged 18.3 points and 10.3 rebounds his past four games. C Nikola Pekovic had 28 points in a 111-107 victory over Phoenix on Dec. 29. Suns G Goran Dragic leads the Suns in scoring (14.2), followed by F Luis Scola (12.9).
Numbers: The Wolves have won two of their past three vs. Phoenix after losing nine straight to the Suns. The Wolves, outrebounded by Golden State on Sunday, are 3-21 when they are outrebounded. Minnesota is 18-10 when entering the fourth quarter either tied or ahead.
Injuries: Wolves F Kevin Love (hand surgery), F Chase Budinger (knee surgery), G Malcolm Lee (hip and knee surgery) and G Brandon Roy (right knee) are out. Suns F/C Channing Frye (enlarged heart) is out.
