Preview: Wolves vs. Philadelphia

  • Updated: February 19, 2013 - 10:52 PM

Preview: Similar records, but very different situations. The 76ers (22-29) have only three more victories than the Wolves (19-31), but Philadelphia is in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, only four games out of playoff position. Still, it has been a disappointing season for the 76ers, a playoff team last season. Philadelphia lost three of four entering the All-Star break. The Wolves, meanwhile, have lost 16 of their past 19. After getting an extra day off Monday, the Wolves returned to practice Tuesday without coach Rick Adelman, who accompanied his wife to a doctor's appointment.

Players to watch: Wolves F Andrei Kirilenko, who has missed the past five games because of a strained right quadriceps, took full part in Tuesday's practice and said he will play Wednesday. F Derrick Williams is coming off a season-high 24 points and a career-high 16 rebounds vs. Houston. G Ricky Rubio has averaged 15 points and 10 assists his past six games. 76ers G Jrue Holiday, coming off his first All-Star game, leads the team in scoring (19.0) and assists (8.9). F Evan Turner has averaged 15.3 points his past three games. G Nick Young had 43 points his past two games.

Numbers: With their loss to Utah a week ago, the Wolves fell to 12-13 at home. Philadelphia's six road victories are the second fewest in the Eastern Conference. The Wolves' victory at Philadelphia on Dec. 4 broke a four-game losing streak to the 76ers. Philadelphia is 29th in the league in scoring (92.3 per game), while the Wolves are last in three-point shooting (30.1 percent).

Injuries: Wolves F Kevin Love (hand surgery), F Chase Budinger (knee surgery), G Malcolm Lee (hip and knee surgery) and G Brandon Roy (right knee) are out. Kirilenko is listed as questionable, but said he will play. 76ers C Andrew Bynum (bone bruises), G/F Jason Richardson (left knee) and F Thaddeus Young (hamstring) are out.
