Jerry Zgoda missed the entire Kevin Garnett era, but he's back covering the Timberwolves after working the beat for their first four seasons two decades ago. In between, he covered a bit of everything: Gopher men's and women's basketball and NCAA athletics, golf, outdoor recreation, sports media and a little Vikings and Twins.

Kevin Love's surgery in New York City  is over and the called the operation to repair the third and fourth metacarpal bones in his right shooting hand "successful."

Of course they did.

He's still expected to be out for the next eight to 10 weeks, starting today.

Yes, that could come awfully close to being the rest of the season, unless of course the Wolves play into May.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Michelle Carson at the Hospital for Special Surgery because the doctor, Andrew Weiland, who saw Love in October and again last week, is recovering from having knee surgery himself.

Love broke that hand again for the second time this season in the third quarter of Jan. 3 game at Denver.
