Jerry Zgoda missed the entire Kevin Garnett era, but he's back covering the Timberwolves after working the beat for their first four seasons two decades ago. In between, he covered a bit of everything: Gopher men's and women's basketball and NCAA athletics, golf, outdoor recreation, sports media and a little Vikings and Twins.

The Wolves wrapped up their four-game West Coast trip Wednesday night with a 1-3 record after a 101-95 loss to the Clippers in L.A.

They played without injured Andrei Kirilenko available to anchor their defense and continue to search in the fourth quarter for the right offensive combination.

They didn't find it tonight obviously, not when the Clippers used a 10-2 fourth-quarter run over nearly five minutes to turn the game.

Rick Adelman searched for the right combinations, starting Josh Howard (his only natural small forward option left) for Kirilenko.

Howard played 26 minutes, but Adelman also went to a three-guard offense at times, playing Alexey Shved at small forward with Malcolm Lee and Luke Ridnour in the backcourt.

Here's the game story from Wednesday and there should be postgame video up on the site by morning.

The Wolves fly home Thursday for Friday's game at Target Center against Milwaukee and after that they'll have at least two days of practice before next week's quick trip to Philadelphia and Boston to start working Ricky Rubio back into things.

Kent Youngblood's got the next few games so he'll be blogging at you from shootaround and Friday night's game.
