NIKOLA PEKOVIC: A CLOSER LOOK

Hometown: Bjelo Polje, Montenegro
How obtained: Selected by the Timberwolves 31st overall and first in 2008 NBA draft's second round. Signed on July 28, 2010, to a three-year contract that ends after this season. He will be a restricted free agent on July 1, 2013, if he doesn't agree with the Wolves on a contract extension by then.
Did you know? He underwent May surgery to repair ankle bone spurs that troubled him late last season. Wolves assistant coach Bill Bayno went to his hometown in Montenegro to spend two weeks working him out in August.
