Eleven of the best professional basketball players in history and one college player made up the Dream Team at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. Here they are, with their age and team at the time, plus height and Patrick Reusse's comment:
GUARDS
Clyde Drexler, 30 years old in 1992, 6-7, Portland: The Glide was a 10-time All-Star; final NBA player added to team.Magic Johnson, 33, 6-9, L.A. Lakers: Three-time MVP, five-time NBA champ; played after missing 1991-92 season.
Michael Jordan, 29, 6-6, Chicago: Five-time MVP, six-time NBA champ, recognized as greatest all-time player.
John Stockton, 30, 6-1, Utah: The 10-time All-Star was selected over Detroit point guard Isiah Thomas.
FORWARDS
Charles Barkley, 29, 6-6, Phoenix: An 11-time All-Star and NBA MVP in 1993; the Dream Team's quote machine.
Larry Bird, 35, 6-9, Boston: Three-time MVP and champ; retired because of back trouble after Dream Team.
Christian Laettner, 22, 6-11, Duke: Filled collegiate spot on roster; third overall pick by Timberwolves that summer.
Karl Malone, 29, 6-9, Utah: The Mailman was 14-time All-Star and two-time MVP.
Chris Mullin, 29, 6-6, Golden State: Five-time All-Star; his deadly outside shooting was vital with Bird's limited play.
Scottie Pippen, 27, 6-7, Chicago: Six-time champ as Jordan's Chicago teammate; eight-time NBA all-defense.
CENTERS
Patrick Ewing, 30, 7-0, New York: Eleven-time All-Star; was first pick by Knicks in NBA's first-ever lottery in 1985.
David Robinson, 27, 7-1, San Antonio: The Admiral was a two-time champ, 10-time All-Star and MVP in 1995.
