Lakers center Andrew Bynum was suspended two games by the NBA for his hard foul on the Timberwolves' Michael Beasley midway through the fourth quarter of Friday's game in Los Angeles.

Beasley drove toward the basket and Bynum jumped into Beasley forearm-first, sending Beasley to the floor and bruising his left hip.

Bynum was assessed a flagrant foul-2 and was ejected. The two-game suspension will cost him more than $250,000.

Beasley played hurt Sunday, scoring 13 points in 15-plus minutes of play in a 127-95 loss to the Kings. Before the game, Beasley said he had received an apology from Bynum via a text message on Saturday.

"He said he was frustrated and seeing red, whatever that meant," Beasley said. "I didn't respond. I feel like I didn't need a text [from Bynum]. I didn't need an apology. It's basketball. [But] I commend him for apologizing."

Wolves coach Kurt Rambis said after Friday's game he didn't think Bynum was trying to hurt Beasley. But, having seen replays of the foul from different angles, he changed his mind.

"He made no play on the ball," Rambis said of Bynum. "It was a non-basketball play."
