Wolves gameday

Last update: December 28, 2006 - 10:07 PM

Preview: As eager as the Wolves are to tighten their defense, Seattle would seem to be the wrong choice to offer a fix. In the past eight meetings, Seattle has averaged 102.3 points.

Player to watch: It might sound like a game of "Clue," but the key tonight might be Ray Allen, in the airport, with a box of cigars. Allen did not travel with the Sonics to Denver for Thursday's clash with the Nuggets, staying in Seattle for the birth of his third child. But there was a chance he would join the club in Minnesota, traveling on his own. Why does it matter? In four games last season, Allen led Seattle in scoring each time. He ranks seventh among all-time Wolves foes, averaging 25.6 points in 25 meetings. . . . Coincidentally, Wolves guard Mike James and his wife Angela were expecting their third child Thursday. Coach Dwane Casey said James was planning to play.

Numbers: Minnesota has won 12 of the past 15 meetings at Target Center. . . . Seattle had lost six of eight heading into Denver.

Injuries: Sonics forward Rashard Lewis will be out through the All-Star break after tendon surgery on his right index finger. Forward Danny Fortson is out because of a sore left knee.
