Blackhawks hit a wall, see streak end at eight

•  ANAHEIM 3, CHICAGO 0: Teemu Selanne, right, scored twice on the power play Friday, and that was plenty for Jean-Sebastien Giguere to post his first shutout of the season as the host Ducks ended the Blackhawks' eight-game winning streak. Giguere made 28 saves. The Blackhawks came in with the NHL's best goals-against average (2.13) and its second-best penalty-killing percentage (85.5).

• SAN JOSE 5, EDMONTON 4 (SO): Patrick Marleau completed the hat trick with a shorthanded goal with 1:26 left in regulation, and Joe Pavelski had the lone shootout goal for the Sharks against the host Oilers. Former Gopher Ryan Potulny scored twice for Edmonton.

• PHOENIX 5, DALLAS 2: Lauri Korpikoski scored his first two goals of the season, and Matthew Lombardi and Scottie Upshall each had three assists for the host Coyotes in their fifth consecutive victory over the Stars.

• N.Y. ISLANDERS 3, PITTSBURGH 2: John Tavares scored the go-ahead goal on a rebound with 6:12 left in the third period for the Islanders in Uniondale, N.Y. Dwayne Roloson made 19 saves for New York, which scored twice in the final period.

• BUFFALO 4, PHILADELPHIA 2: Tim Connolly scored twice in the third period and added two assists for the visiting Sabres, who ended a four-game losing streak. Buffalo's Ryan Miller, who went into the game leading the NHL with a 1.98 goals-against average, made 31 saves,

• NEW JERSEY 2, BOSTON 1 (SO): Devils goalie Martin Brodeur passed Patrick Roy and became the NHL's all-time leader in minutes played (60,280), and got the victory after Jamie Langenbrunner and Zach Parise scored shootout goals, in Boston.

• TAMPA BAY 5, N.Y. RANGERS 1: Former Wild defenseman Kurtis Foster scored two goals for the Lightning in Tampa, Fla., spoiling Rangers coach John Tortorella's first game against his former team.

• CALGARY 3, DETROIT 0: Miika Kiprusoff made 40 saves for his second shutout of the season and 32nd overall for the Flames. The Red Wings have been shut out in consecutive games for the first time since December 2001 and the first time at home since 1977. Jamie Lundmark and Olli Jokinen each had a goal and an assist.

• TORONTO 6, FLORIDA 4: Phil Kessel and Niklas Hagman each scored two goals for the Maple Leafs in a victory over the Panthers in Sunrise, Fla. Florida has lost three in a row.

•  ATLANTA 6, CAROLINA 4: Rich Peverly scored the fourth of the Thrashers' five third-period goals with 6:03 remaining in a victory over the Hurricanes in Raleigh, N.C. Carolina had won three in a row at home before blowing a 4-1 third-period lead against the Thrashers, who scored three goals in 2:39 span to tie it at 4-4.

•  ST. LOUIS 3, NASHVILLE 1: Chris Mason made 37 saves, and Brad Boyes, David Backes and Paul Kariya scored in the Blues' victory over the host Predators. The Blues ended the Predators' winning streak at seven and also ended their home winning streak at seven.

• Edmonton right winger Ales Hemsky will have surgery to repair his left shoulder and miss the rest of the season, Oilers General Manager Steve Tambellini said. Hemsky was injured Wednesday night in a loss to Los Angeles when he was hit from behind by Michal Handzus. Hemsky has seven goals and 15 assists in 22 games.
