Rolston's game-winner gives Devils four in a row

• NEW JERSEY 2, N.Y. ISLANDERS 1: Yann Danis made 23 saves and stopped four in-close attempts in the third period, helping the host Devils beat his former Islanders teammates Friday night for their fourth consecutive victory and their 10th in 12 games. Brian Rolston scored the winner on a power play and defenseman Cory Murphy added his first goal as a Devil. Frans Nielsen scored for the Islanders.

• DALLAS 2, VANCOUVER 1: Brad Richards scored midway through the second period, Brenden Morrow added a third-period power-play goal, and the host Stars beat the Canucks despite 45 saves by rookie Cory Schneider. Marty Turco stopped 32 shots to help Dallas end the Canucks' winning streak at three.

• COLORADO 4, CHICAGO 3 (SO): Chris Stewart scored in the eighth round of the shootout, helping the NHL-leading Avalanche beat the Blackhawks and remain unbeaten at home. Ryan O'Reilly scored twice for Colorado in regulation, while David Jones added a short-handed goal. Dustin Byfuglien, Duncan Keith and Andrew Ladd scored for the Blackhawks, who lost for the second night in a row. Craig Anderson stopped 29 shots for Colorado.

• PHILADELPHIA 5, BUFFALO 2: Daniel Carcillo scored twice and Ray Emery made 28 saves to lead the visiting Flyers over the Sabres for their fifth victory in a row. Chris Pronger had a goal and an assist, and James van Riemsdyk and Darroll Powe also scored.

• TORONTO 3, CAROLINA 2: Jason Blake scored on a power play with 8:24 left and Jonas Gustavsson made 34 saves to help the visiting Maple Leafs beat the Hurricanes for their second victory in 14 games. John Mitchell and Nikolai Kulemin also scored for Toronto.

• WASHINGTON 4, FLORIDA 1: Jose Theodore stopped 28 shots, Brian Pothier had a goal and two assists and the Capitals beat the host Panthers to break a three-game losing streak. Brendan Morrison scored twice and Tyler Sloan added a goal for the Capitals in the opening contest of home-and-home series with the Panthers. Nathan Horton scored for Florida.
