Preview: The Hurricanes, 5-0-1 against the Wild all-time at home, had their three-game winning streak stopped at Chicago, 5-2, on Monday. Carolina is 14-8-3 in 2015 and lost 6-3 in Minnesota on Feb. 14. Carolina has earned points in six of the past eight meetings between the teams.

Players to watch: If G Darcy Kuemper starts, it'll be his first NHL start since Jan. 6 and first appearance since Jan. 20. He did take part in a two-week AHL conditioning stint from Jan. 27-Feb. 8, going 2-3 with a 3.22 goals-against average, .891 save percentage and one shutout with Iowa. If G Devan Dubnyk starts, it would be the third time he starts on back-to-back nights with the Wild. He was pulled in Detroit and played solid during an overtime loss in Winnipeg. South St. Paul's Justin Faulk has 12 goals, the ninth defenseman in Carolina history to score 10 or more. He leads the Hurricanes with 28 assists, 40 points and ice time (24:11 per game). F Andrej Nestrasil has points in three games in a row and D Jeff Skinner is two away from 100 career assists.

Numbers: The Hurricanes ranks first in the NHL on the penalty kill at 88.2 percent, killing off 62 of the past 65 opportunities. The Wild ranks second at 87 percent. … The Wild is 2-2-4 on the second night of back-to-backs.

Injuries: Wild D Jared Spurgeon (head) and LW Nino Niederreiter (lower body) are questionable. D Marco Scandella (oblique), LW Jason Zucker (collarbone), LW Ryan Carter (upper body), LW Matt Cooke (sports hernia) and D Keith Ballard (concussion) are out. Hurricanes D Ryan Murphy (lower body) is out.
