“This is a guy that we really value because of what he can add in the playoffs,” Yeo said. “His physicality, I think, could be a factor in this series.”

Big day for the Yeos

Besides beating Colorado, Yeo got word Thursday that his 15-year-old son, Kyler, a forward at Hill-Murray, was taken by the Kamloops Blazers in the fourth round of the Western Hockey League draft.

“It’s been a pretty sweet 24 hours,” Mike Yeo said. “He was fired up. He was at school. He’s not supposed to have his phone on, but he somehow did. I’m very proud of him. He loves Hill-Murray and is so proud to be part of their program.”

Kamloops is partly owned by Wild assistant coach Darryl Sydor, former NHLer Mark Recchi and NHLers Jarome Iginla and Shane Doan.

Etc.

• Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews missed Thursday’s practice because he was sick. Coach Joel Quenneville said Toews would play Game 1.
