• Former Gophers winger Thomas Vanek was named to Austria’s Olympic team. Vanek is one of four former Gophers on Olympic rosters; Blake Wheeler, Phil Kessel and Paul Martin are on Team USA.

• The Czech team includes 42-year-old Petr Nedved — who last played in the Olympics in 1994 for Canada — and former Wild defenseman Marek Zidlicky.

• Former Wild winger Marian Gaborik is on the Slovakian team, although he is recovering from a broken collarbone that leaves his status for the Games in question.

• Slovenia qualified in men’s hockey for the first time. Its only NHLer is Anze Kopitar, and the team is coached by his father, Matjaz. Slovenia is in Group A with Russia, the U.S. and Slovakia.
