Week's worth of Wild links

Posted by: Michael Russo under Wild training camp Updated: September 15, 2013 - 8:38 AM

Since we've gone from weeks without stories to story overdrive, I figure I'd make it easier for you and list the links here in case you've missed a few and want to give a read.

Remember, today at 11 a.m., the Wild will scrimmage at the X. It's free and open to the public, so come on out. It's so important to the evaluation process, coach Mike Yeo keeps calling it a "game" because he wants players to conduct themselves like it's a real game.

Gate 1 opens at 10:45 a.m. If you're not going, it will be streamed on wild.com. I will have updates on my Twitter account, @russostrib.

Here is today's feature on young Jonas Brodin, the 20-year-old "vet" who is entering his second NHL season and fourth professional season (two in Sweden). Kid should be a stud.

Colorful notebook on the scene from Mexico July 4 and 5 when Devin Setoguchi was traded while Seto and teammates celebrated Clayton Stoner's wedding. Also, this talks about the defensemen battle.

Here is a feature on Kyle Brodziak, who is looking to rebound from a tough season. As always, Brodziak, who so often is a Wild spokesman for the team and himself after every game, couldn't be more accountable.

Notebook leading with Niklas Backstrom and Josh Harding talking about their smaller pads this year and how it could affect them. Also has Mike Yeo talking about players Nino Niederreiter, Justin Fontaine and Erik Haula.

Feature on Dany Heatley, a leaner Dany Heatley who is out to prove he's still a threatening goal scorer. Good stuff from big No. 15.

Notebook after Day One, where players talk about the more aggressive system. Yeo also talks about Mikael Granlund, Marco Scandella and others. Zach Parise talks about his hope to play with a soon-to-be-extended Jason Pominville and some fun Badger-Gopher smack talk.

Here are 5 youngsters to watch in camp: Charlie Coyle, Matt Dumba, Mikael Granlund, Nino Niederreiter and Jason Zucker.

Here's a feature on coach Mike Yeo, now 40 and entering year 3 at the Wild's helm.

Here's a Q&A training camp primer with coach Mike Yeo.

Wild brings in faceoff specialist David Steckel on a tryout

So there you have it. And of course, there's been a plethora of blogs you can rewind through.
