Preview: The Oilers have lost five in a row and were booed off home ice after a 4-1 loss to Calgary on Saturday. This game comes one day after Steve Tambellini was fired as general manager and replaced by Craig MacTavish, a finalist for the Wild coaching vacancy in 2011. So the Wild, playing on the second of back-to-back nights and 3-1 winners in Edmonton on Feb. 21, should expect a motivated foe.

Players to watch: It’ll be interesting to see if the Wild comes back with G Niklas Backstrom for a second consecutive night. Minnesota did that two weeks ago and he was pulled after allowing two goals on two shots. Backstrom is 24-3-1 all-time vs. the Oilers with a 1.79 goals-against average and .933 save percentage. F Pierre-Marc Bouchard has 41 points in 46 games against Edmonton, his highest point total vs. any team. Oilers LW Taylor Hall is tied for fourth in the Western Conference with 41 points. This is his first game against Minnesota since sidelining F Cal Clutterbuck six games with a knee on Feb. 21.

Numbers: The Wild is 11-2 in its past 13 in Edmonton. … The Wild’s 17 victories in Edmonton are its most in any road arena. … The Wild is 4-3 in the second game of back-to-back situations this season.

Injuries: Wild RW Dany Heatley (shoulder surgery) and C Zenon Konopka (broken foot) are out. Oilers D Andy Sutton (knee) and C Eric Belanger (groin) are out. RW Ales Hemsky (foot) is questionable.
