Preview: Wild at Anaheim

  • Updated: February 28, 2013 - 11:16 PM

Preview: The Wild, 2-1 in the second of back-to-backs, completes a two-game road trip. In a completely one-sided loss, the Wild was defeated 3-1 in Anaheim on Feb. 1. Teemu Selanne and Bobby Ryan had three points each. The Pacific Division-leading Ducks (14-3-1) have won seven in a row at home, their longest home win streak since a record 11 in a row in 2009-10.

Players to watch: G Darcy Kuemper, who played eight games last season for the nearby ECHL Ontario Reign, might make his third career start and first since Feb. 17. He is 1-1 with a 2.02 goals against average and .934 save percentage. The great grandparents of LW Jason Zucker, born in nearby Newport Beach, are expected to see him play in the NHL for the first time. Ducks C Ryan Getzlaf ranks 15th in the NHL with 21 points in 18 games. They are led in goals (seven) by RW Kyle Palmieri, who scored two against the Wild on Feb. 1. G Viktor Fasth, who beat the Wild last month, is 9-1 with a 1.92 goals-against average.

Numbers: The Ducks, who average 3.33 goals per game (third-best in the NHL), have nine players who have scored at least five goals. The Wild has two. ... The Ducks are 8-for-14 on the power play in the past four games. ... The Wild is 23-18-4 all-time vs. the Ducks and won both its games in Anaheim last year. ... The Wild has lost to the Ducks in regulation the past two times the teams played. It has never lost three games in a row in regulation to Anaheim.

Injuries: Wild RW Cal Clutterbuck (thigh contusion) and G Josh Harding (symptoms related to multiple sclerosis) are out. Ducks D Hampus Lindholm (concussion) is out.
