A look back at the Wild-Avalanche season series

Last update: April 8, 2008 - 11:48 PM

Oct. 21, 2007 vs. Colorado: With the score tied 2-2, Stephane Veilleux hammered Brett Clark, and with the defenseman still adjusting his helmet, Mikko Koivu scored the winner with 3:04 left as the Wild improved to 7-0-1 on the season. Wild 3, Avalanche 2

Oct. 28, 2007 at Colorado: With Marian Gaborik, Pavol Demitra and Niklas Backstrom inside the Wild's groin triage center, Peter Budaj faced only 22 shots. Avalanche 3, Wild 1

Nov. 11, 2007 at Colorado: With Gaborik and Demitra still out, the Wild was a step slow and fell to 4-15-2 all-time in Denver (regular season). Avalanche 4, Wild 2

Nov. 18, 2007 vs. Colorado: His hair disheveled and his heart racing, Matt Foy might have overslept and arrived late to the morning skate, but he still scored the winning goal. Wild 4, Avalanche 1

Jan. 24 at Colorado: Backstrom was tremendous with 28 saves and Brian Rolston, Demitra and Todd Fedoruk scored as the Wild brought in the All-Star break climbing atop the cutthroat Northwest Division. Wild 3, Avalanche 2

March 17 vs. Colorado: This was the night the Wild took over sole possession of first place in the Northwest and never relinquished it. The Wild had a season-high 30 hits, including a classic one-on-one confrontation between Brent Burns and Peter Forsberg. Wild 3, Avalanche 1

March 30 vs. Colorado: On one single shot, Gaborik dramatically hit the 40-goal plateau for the first time, set a franchise record with his 80th point and put the Wild on the brink of its first division title by burying a Demitra pass off a 2-on-1 in overtime. Wild 3, Avalanche 2 (OT)

April 6 at Colorado: Forsberg assisted on goals by Paul Stastny, Joe Sakic and Milan Hejduk as the Avalanche rallied from a 2-1 deficit to win in a shootout. Trying to get in Gaborik's head with the two teams about to meet in the playoffs, Ian Laperriere went after Gaborik the entire third period and overtime, resulting in Gaborik's first fight ever. Avalanche 4, Wild 3 (SO)
