Drafted: Ninth overall in 2010.

In Finland: Played for IFK-Helsinki in the Finnish Elite League for the past three seasons. Was league's rookie of the year and most gentlemanly player as a 17-year-old, won a league title and tied for the scoring lead as an 18-year-old. Led team in scoring last season. In 129 elite league games, he had 41 goals, 86 assists and 17 minor penalties.

National hero: Helped Finland win the 2011 World Championships, scoring a lacrosse-style goal in the semifinals. That goal was captured on a postage stamp.

Strengths: Puck handling, speed, creativity.

Weaknesses: Size, footwork.

Quote: "I'll never be the biggest, fastest player. I've got to be the smartest."

Wild ties: Close friend of Mikko Koivu, who was Team Finland's captain and also served with Granlund in the Finnish Army.

First on-ice appearance: At Wild development camp July 8-15.
