GLENDALE, ARIZ. — Cal Clutterbuck, who missed Tuesday's game at Colorado, still was not feeling well Wednesday and was sent by the Wild back to the team hotel to rest.

"After the game [Tuesday] he felt really good and came in today and is not feeling great," coach Mike Yeo said.

Clutterbuck was hit hard in two recent games -- once when he clocked Justin Abdelkader in Detroit last Friday, once when he took a glove to the face from Colorado's David Jones on Sunday in Minnesota. After that one, Clutterbuck was slow to get up and fell face-first in the tunnel leading from the bench to the locker room.

Asked if he thinks it's a concussion, Yeo said, "Sure hope not. But I'm not qualified to diagnose these things. We'll certainly have to monitor it very closely. It stinks. We could definitely use him in the lineup, but we don't want to put him at risk."

Clutterbuck said he didn't think it was a concussion because he felt fine for a day-and-a-half after the Jones hit.

Injury update

• Physical defenseman Clayton Stoner is closing in on a return from a hip injury for the first time since Feb. 2.

"He's very close," said Yeo, indicating he might play for the first time in 17 games Thursday at Phoenix.

If Stoner plays, he could replace defenseman Kurtis Foster, who had a lingering back issue since arriving in a trade from New Jersey. Foster's back tightened up before Tuesday's game and had to take an injection to alleviate the pain. Foster's playing time was reduced Tuesday, but he was feeling better Wednesday and practiced.

• In Minnesota, Mikko Koivu (shoulder) and Mike Lundin (hernia) skated in full gear Wednesday and Pierre-Marc Bouchard (concussion) in a tracksuit.
