Wild captain Mikko Koivu, who has missed the past two games becaues of an undisclosed injury, didn't participate in Tuesday's practice but skated before the team, coach Mike Yeo said.

Yeo didn't have an update as to how Koivu felt, but he said if he had to guess, Koivu is "50-50" to go on the upcoming two-game road trip to Florida and Dallas.

Yeo has made clear that the reason the Wild is being so mysterious about Koivu's injury is because he plans to try to play soon and the team doesn't want opponents to target him.

The Wild will decide Wednesday morning whether Koivu will travel later in the day with the team.

Money well spent

Yeo was ecstatic about Kyle Brodziak's three-year, $8.5 million contract extension.

"It shows a lot of faith in our organization, where we're going, and the fact that he's a big part of where we're going," Yeo said. "I know that we can win with this guy."

Diferrent take

Cal Clutterbuck denied an allegation from St. Louis' Andy McDonald that the Wild forward yelled at him, "I hope you get another concussion," during Saturday's game.

McDonald, who missed 51 games because of a concussion, told TrueHockey.com, "I don't expect players to ease up on me, but to make comments like that shows no respect."

Regarding McDonald's tinted visor, Clutterbuck claims he asked the Blues forward if he "still had a concussion."

"It's a false accusation," Clutterbuck said.

Clutterbuck has experienced concussions in his career and is on a team where the seasons of Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Guillaume Latendresse have, thus far, been derailed by concussions.

• Former Army Ranger J.B. Spisso, a motivational expert who has worked with the Wild for three years, addressed the team after Tuesday's practice. He is also scheduled to accompany the team on the upcoming road trip.

• Defenseman Greg Zanon missed Tuesday's practice because he was sick, Yeo said.
