GAME RECAP

STAR TRIBUNE'S THREE STARS

1. Niklas Backstrom, Wild: Goalie kept the Wild in it early, then saved it late, stopping 43 shots.

2. Cal Clutterbuck, Wild: Maybe the 10-minute first-period rest helped him score the game-winner.

3. Antoine Vermette, Columbus: Center scored short-handed and was the Blue Jackets' only plus player.

BY THE NUMBERS

23-PLUS Minutes played by young defensemen Jared Spurgeon and Justin Falk after Marek Zidlicky was injured. Falk was a plus-2.

5 Nick Johnson's team-leading shot total. He scored for the first time since Oct. 11.

21-13 The combined faceoff record for Matt Cullen, Kyle Brodziak and Warren Peters.
