Wild-Los Angeles preview

  • Updated: October 15, 2007 - 11:40 PM

Preview: The 5-0 Wild, the NHL's only undefeated team, looks to end its three-game mother-son trip out West with a three-game sweep by beating the Kings (1-5). Minnesota defeated Phoenix and Anaheim at the start of a road swing that ends Saturday at St. Louis. The Wild swept last year's series with the Kings in four games, outscoring L.A. 12-5.

Players to watch: Wild C Eric Belanger was drafted by the Kings in the fourth round in 1996. LW Pavol Demitra and LW Mark Parrish also played with L.A. LW Brian Rolston scored five goals against the Kings last season, and RW Pierre-Marc Bouchard has six points. Demitra has 31 points in 31 games against L.A. and RW Marian Gaborik has 21 points in 20 games. Kings C Patrick O'Sullivan is a former Wild draft pick, and D Rob Blake has 21 points in 32 games against the Wild.

Numbers: The Wild has given up four goals in five games or ... an unbelievable 23 fewer than Los Angeles has allowed in six games. ... The Wild has given up two power-play goals, the Kings eight.

Injuries: The Kings are healthy, but Wild C Dominic Moore (abdominal strain) is out.
