Griffen agrees to terms

The Vikings now have four picks that they need to agree to terms with before training camp opens with a single practice Friday.

The latest pick to come to terms was fourth-round defensive end Everson Griffen out of Southern Cal. That report comes from our friend Kevin Seifert, who writes the NFC North blog for

The Vikings have come to terms with Griffen; fifth-round linebacker Nate Triplett; seventh-round tight end Mickey Shuler; and seventh-round fullback Ryan D'Imperio.

The Vikings have yet to reach (known) agreements with second-rounders Chris Cook, a cornerback, and Toby Gerhart, a running back, as well as fifth-round offensive guard Chris DeGeare;and sixth-round quarterback Joe Webb. Webb is the lone remaining unsigned pick from that round.

Cook and Gerhart likely will get done before camp opens. Cook's agent, Hadley Engelhard, said in a e-mail Tuesday that, "we have had good, constant dialogue and are making progress." Meanwhile, Gerhart's father told KFAN Radio this morning that an agreement could be reached today.

The Vikings don't make any announcements until players officially have signed their contracts, so it's not surprising that they are waiting to release this information until a deal is officially done.
