Vikings coach Brad Childress and other members of the organization had an interesting adventure following Organized Team Activities on Tuesday.

A helicopter from the National Guard landed on one of the practice fields behind Winter Park and took Childress, some of his coaches and players and other Vikings staff members for a visit and tour of the National Guard base. Here are some photos from the Vikings website. Tight end Visanthe Shiancoe tweeted that he was among those aboard the helicopter.

As we wrote on Monday, Childress' son, Andrew, is a member of the Marines and was deployed to Afghanistan a couple of weeks ago. Childress has talked about his admiration for what his son is doing and has often talked about how interested he is in the military.

Two years ago, Childress went to Duluth to fly in an F-18 Hornet aircraft. The pilot was a member of the Blue Angels. Late this month, Childress and his good friend, Eagles coach Andy Reid, are scheduled to participate on the NFL-USO Coaches Tour to visit soldiers in the Middle East.
