Former Southwest Minnesota State University offensive lineman Bill Noethlich and Wisconsin-La Crosse defensive back Matt Winney are among the players whom the Vikings have invited to tryout at their three-day rookie minicamp this weekend at Winter Park. The camp opens Friday.

Noethlich, a 6-7, 301 pounds, was second team All-NSIC South Division last season and played in the Cactus Bowl, an NCAA Division II all-star game in Kingsville, Texas. He started 41 of his 44 career games, including 40 consecutive starts. The Mustangs offense finished the season ranked 13th in the country in both scoring and passing offense this season.

The La Crosse Tribune, meanwhile, reported that Winney will be at Winter Park this weekend. Winney, 6-2, 210 pounds, is from Green Bay and will be looked at as a safety and cornerback by the Vikings. He had 40 tackles and nine pass breakups last season, earning All-WIAC honors and a second-team selection in the D3football.com All-West Region.

Update: Here are two more players who will be at the camp on a tryout basis. Former Wisconsin Badgers linebacker Jaevery McFadden will be at Winter Park this weekend, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and then will go to Washington for a tryout with the Redskins from May 7-9. The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead reports that former North Dakota State running back Tyler Roehl will get a look as a fullback. Roehl previously had been with the Seattle Seahawks.
