The waiting is almost over. Chip and Judd both will be blogging throughout the evening as the first round of the NFL draft unfolds. We'll try to keep it Vikings focused but also throw out some opinions on other happenings.

You can also follow us on Twitter thoughout the night. Chip is at www.twitter.com/chipscoggins and Judd is at www.twitter.com/juddzulgad. Feel free to shoot us questions that way and we'll try to answer them as well.

6:37 p.m.: NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock has the Vikings taking Jimmy Clausen in his final mock draft. At same time, the Rams take quarterback Sam Bradford first overall.

6:48 p.m. : No surprise in first two picks -- Bradford to Rams and Suh to Lions. Bucs expected to take McCoy and things get interesting.

7 p.m.: As expected, Redskins take an offensive tackle, Oklahoma's Trent Williams. For those scoring, that's four straight Big 12 players taken at start of draft.

7:16 p.m.: No surprises yet. Everything unfolding as expected. Five of the first six picks from Big 12, including three from Oklahoma (Bradford, McCoy and Williams).

7:24 p.m.: Joe Haden is the first cornerback taken, No. 7 to Cleveland. Corners could start flying off the board at this point.

7:31 p.m.: First surprise of night comes from -- you know who -- the Raiders. Take middle linebacker Rolando McClain from Alabama. Bills practically sprint to podium to grab running back C.J. Spiller at No. 9.

7:40 p.m.: OK, second shocker of the night. Jacksonville takes Cal defensive tackle Tyson Alualu at No. 10. Some didn't even project him in the first round. Even Al Davis thinks that's crazy.

8:06 p.m.: Seahawks coach Pete Carroll having a very good first draft. They get offensive tackle Russell Okung at No. 6 and safety Earl Thomas at No. 14.

8:14 p.m. Two picks from the 49ers at 17. If they don't take Jimmy Clausen this thing could get really interesting. Giants just took defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul out of South Florida. That was just as Mark Craig predicated this morning.

8:25 p.m. San Francisco's takes offensive lineman Mike Iupati and Clausen continues to tumble down the board.

8:44 p.m. There are several quality players left on the board here, putting the Vikings in a position of real strength. Denver just obtained the 22nd pick from New England and took WR Demaryius Thomas. He is first wide receiver. Dez Bryant is still there.

8:51 p.m. The Packers have selected Iowa OT Bryan Bulaga and they have to be beyond pleased that they got a guy we thought would go in the top 10. Packers needed young offensive tackle and they got a really good one.

9:20 p.m. So Tebow goes to Denver with the 25th pick, which was obtained from Baltimore. Vikings didn't even have to worry about him. That's not going to be the case for Clausen, huh?
