Favre now a grandpa

Brett Favre's teammates had some fun at his expense last season when they placed a rocking chair in front of his locker. Favre is only 40 years old, but as an NFL player that qualifies him as ancient.
If Favre does decide to return for a 20th season, Vikings players will have some new ammunition in their quest to remind him of his age. Favre confirmed to ESPN's Ed Werder that his daughter, Brittany, recently gave birth to a son. That's right, Brett Favre is now a grandpa.
Credit on this scoop actually should go to Larry Fitzgerald of the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder. Fitzgerald had an item on this at the end of March. Favre and his wife, Deanna, have two kids. An Internet search shows that Brittany is 21 and Breleigh is 10. Brittany is actually older than her parents were when she was born. Deanna was 20 and Brett was 19 when Brittany was born in 1989.
On another note, it sounds like Favre might be getting the itch to be around football again. He showed up for a portion of Southern Miss' spring practice on Monday and spoke to the team for about 10 minutes afterward, according to the Hattiesburg American.
"It was just a great day [that brought him out],” Southern Miss coach Larry Fedora told the paper. "He watched a little practice and we were very lucky to have him out. He visited with the team after practice and it was pretty special."
Fedora told the Associated Press that Favre did not discuss his plans. Quarterback Martevious Young told the Associated Press that Favre may have dropped a hint on the topic during his speech. "He said 'I might be out here watching you in the fall, but there are no early commitments to that, though,'" Young said.
