In the days before Brett Favre appeared on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno last month, Vikings coach Brad Childress made a trip to the Hattiesburg area to visit with the quarterback.

Childress made it clear he applied no pressure when it came to the subject of whether Favre will play next season. According to Star Tribune columnist Sid Hartman, Childress talked with Favre again Thursday, "just keeping in touch with the great quarterback."

The Vikings have made it clear in their public comments that they aren't going to force Favre to make up his mind anytime soon but obviously they need to begin getting a good read on if he does want to come back for a 20th NFL season.
