This should be the final LaDainian Tomlinson post for a while -- I'm sure you're more than delighted -- but we wanted to bring you Tomlinson's comments from his conference call Tuesday morning that related to the Vikings pursuit of him.

There have been conflicting reports about Brett Favre's role in his recruitment, which is important because it would be a big indicator of Favre's plans for next season. (We've said it numerous times that our belief is that Favre will play for the Vikings next season but will wait until summertime to announce it.)

Anyway, here is what Tomlinson said when asked about Favre and his decision to sign with the Jets on the conference call.

"As far as the visit to Minnesota, I thought it went great," he said. "It really did. I enjoyed the people in Minnesota. I thought it was a first-class organization. I really could get used to being there. But I think it came down to just the situation of the offense. Just learning something new. Kind of what Brett went through when he came to the Jets [in 2008]. Learning a new offense and that kind of thing.

"As far as what Brett said, really he didn't say much. He just said people in both organizations are great. He told me to take my time and think about it and just make the best decision for my family. That was it."

Tomlinson said Favre gave him no indication on whether he intends to play next season.

"I would have thought that I might get a little kind of hint on what he's thinking, but no he didn't," he said. "He didn't give me no clue at all of what he's thinking. ... I didn't ask him because as players I know there's a lot of stuff that you deal with in the offseason. In his case, it's about playing again so I didn't want to get into it. He's owed that much respect to make his own decision."

Tomlinson said Favre's future plans had no affect on his decision to sign with the Jets.

"It really didn't because honestly in my mind I don't know," he said. "He had a great year last year. You would think that he would be coming back. But that had nothing to do with it. It had no factor in the decision."

Tomlinson admitted that playing in a familiar offensive system and a chance to have a bigger role with the Jets were the most important factors. He figures to split carries with Shonn Greene next season, which would not have happened as Adrian Peterson's backup.

"I thought I definitely may have opportunities to get more touches here with the Jets," he said. "Obviously Peterson being in the stage of his career that he is, it's a different situation. Again, I thought being behind the eight-ball also in learning a new offense would be tough at this point. I've been in this type of offense that the Jets run my whole career."
