The fact that Brett Favre has been named the NFC offensive player of the month for November was posted on the Vikings website earlier today. But the team just sent out a press release with a few more details.

This is the sixth time Favre has won the award but the first time since November 2004 when he was with the Green Bay Packers. Favre is the first Viking to win the player of the month since quarterback Daunte Culpepper earned it in October 2004. Favre is only the fourth Vikings quarterback to be named offensive player of the month, joining Warren Moon (November 1995); Randall Cunningham (October 1998); and Culpepper (September 2003 and October 2004).

The Vikings (10-1) went 4-0 in November as Favre completed 91 of 130 passes for 1,193 yards with 12 touchdowns and no interceptions. He was sacked only four times. This is the 10th time in the past 15 seasons that Favre has led a team to a 10-victory season.

Favre will try to continue his success on Sunday at Arizona. He had an outstanding game against the Cardinals last season while playing for the New York Jets, throwing for a career-high six touchdowns in a 56-35 victory. Favre completed 24 of 34 passes for 289 yards with an interception and a 123.7 passer rating in that game.

Favre, by the way, needs two touchdown passes on Sunday to surpass Moon (25 in 1997) for the most touchdown passes in a single season among quarterbacks who were at least 40 years old by the end of a season in NFL history.
