The Vikings are having an excellent season on the field but they have been even more succesful when it comes to getting fans to vote for their players in the Pro Bowl selection process on NFL.com.

The NFL released the most recent voting results Tuesday and 11 Vikings are the leading NFC vote-getters at their position. Quarterback Brett Favre, by the way, is not on that list. Keep in mind, the fan vote only counts for one-third of the selection process. Players and coaches also are going to get to vote. (Fan voting will end Dec. 21).

Favre is actually third among NFL players with 840,498 votes but that puts him behind Colts quarterback Peyton Manning (853,565) and Saints quarterback Drew Brees (848,624). Those three have been the most often mentioned for the NFL MVP award.

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is one position behind Favre with 838,985 votes. Peterson is followed by Arizona standout and former Holy Angels star Larry Fitzgerald (529,904).

Peterson's vote total puts him first among NFC running backs. Other Vikings leading at their positions are fullback Naufahu Tahi (113,335); offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie (231,282); guard Steve Hutchinson (239,924); center John Sullivan (222,181); kicker Ryan Longwell (121,373); kick returner Percy Harvin (233,726); defensive end Jared Allen (343,463); nose tackle Pat Williams (221,517); punter Chris Kluwe (84,896); and special-teams player Heath Farwell (103,215).
