AUSTIN, MINN. -- Vikings owner Zygi Wilf, wide receiver Sidney Rice and tight end Visanthe Shiancoe are in Austin today for the latest stop on the Vikings community tour that last Tuesday was in Owatonna.
We loaded up the Saturn and made the drive so we'll provide updates on what the three had to say. Wilf talked briefly Sunday about the decision to sign coach Brad Childress to a contract extension and also about the Vikings stadium situation.
We'll have some access again to Wilf today and he also will speak at a luncheon. Chip is back at the home base and will be taking care of updates from that end so even though players are off today the blog will be as active as ever.
By the way, Brett Favre is a candidate for the FedEx air player of the week for his four-touchdown performance against Seattle on Sunday. Cleveland's Brady Quinn and Detroit's Matthew Stafford are also in the running. Fans can vote for the award on NFL.com. My guess is Stafford wins it. He threw for five touchdowns with two interceptions and completed 26 of 43 passes for 422 yards in Detroit's 38-37 victory over Cleveland.
Stafford injured his left (non-throwing) shoulder when he was hit by former Viking C.J. Mosley while throwing a Hail Mary pass. Despite being injured, he returned to throw the winning 1-yard touchdown to Brandon Pettigrew after the Browns called a timeout.
