Vikings Pro Bowl cornerback Antoine Winfield confirmed this morning in his weekly appearance on KFAN that he was going to have an MRI done on his injured right foot to get an accurate reading on the full extent of the damage. Winfield was hurt in the second quarter of the Vikings' 33-31 victory Sunday over Baltimore and did not return.

"Hopefully I go ahead and get some good news," Winfield told host and Vikings play-by-play announcer Paul Allen. "It still is OK right now. A little bit swollen and a little bit sore but I'm going to do whatever I can to get back on the field and play against the Steelers."

Winfield described the injury as a freak accident, "something I've done millions of times." As Winfield turned to run his ankle rolled and he initially thought he had injured it. Winfield went in and got an X-ray and everything looked OK. The issue is with the middle, top portion of Winfield's foot.

"Not really," Winfield told Allen when asked if he had a gut feeling about the injury. "It's a little sore, I'm able to walk on it."

Winfield should have the results of the MRI quickly. He said it usually takes about a half-hour to get the information back and the procedure was performed earlier today.

We'll also be waiting for updates on wide receiver Percy Harvin's re-injured left shoulder and running back Adrian Peterson's left ankle. Vikings coach Brad Childress will conduct his Monday news conference at 12:30 this afternoon.
