As Brett Favre prepares to face his former team, the Green Bay Packers, on Monday night, the quarterback continues to tell others that he has moved on with his life. The latest to hear this was former NFL coach Jon Gruden, who is now a Monday night analyst for ESPN.

Gruden and Favre's relationship goes back to 1992 when Gruden picked up Favre from the Green Bay airport after the Packers acquired him in a trade with Atlanta. Gruden was an offensive assistant with Green Bay at the time. Asked what he would say to Packers fans today, Favre responded: "It was 16 great years. I hope they enjoyed it, they appreciated it, that run as much as I did. You can't take that away, you just have to let it go and just move on."

Of course, many feel that Favre hasn't moved on and that the reason he is playing for the Vikings is to get an opportunity to stick it to the Packers and prove to general manager Ted Thompson that he made a mistake in not taking Favre back before the 2008 season.

"I want to beat them," Favre told Gruden. "I've got a lot of friends on that team. The way things went down. I'm not going to sit here and lie to you. It was disappointing, for both sides. I still want to prove that I'm worthy and I think that's human nature. Believe me, I want to win this game."

As for how emotional this game might be for him, Favre said: "It will be emotional, but I base this solely off of how I feel right now. I don't know if I can get any more emotional than I got last week [when Favre threw the winning pass to Greg Lewis with two seconds left to beat San Francisco]. The emotional high winning that game took a lot out of me. Not that this game coming up won't take much to get me charged up."

The entire Favre interview will air on "SportsCenter" as ESPN's Sunday conversation at 10 tonight and again on "Monday Night Countdown" at 6 p.m. on Monday.

One other Favre-related note. Fox's Jay Glazer reported that the right foot problem that landed Favre on the injury report this week was causing the quarterback, "a lot of pain earlier in the week." Glazer also reported that Favre went so far as to take some scout team reps in practice this week to help the Vikings defense get a look at what they will see Monday night.
