Long-time Providence Journal columnist Jim Donaldson did a piece today praising Patriots receiver and former Viking Randy Moss.
The fact Moss is praised isn't unusual. A lot of people praise the SuperFreak's talent.
But what Donaldson wrote is unusual in the fact he also praises Moss' attitude and work ethic during his time with the Patriots. In Sunday's win over Atlanta, Moss caught 10 passes for 116 yards and, according to Donaldson, was a willing and successful downfield blocker as the Patriots ran for 168 yards
It's good reading for Moss fans who think he's been given a bad rap, as well as those who don't like the guy.
"In 34 seasons of covering pro football, I consider Jerry Rice the greatest wide receiver ever. That said, Moss is capable of making catches, and plays, that not even the incomparable Rice could pull off.
"Rice is No. 1 – in part because he played every game the way Moss did Sunday – but Randy is No. 2 in my book.
Which makes the fact that the Patriots got him for a No. 4 in the 2007 draft from the Raiders the steal of the century."
