Yeah, it’s game day!! Waking up on game day is like waking up on Christmas morning or your birthday! I can hardly sleep the night before, even though I know my body needs at least 7 hours to be energized and on my toes for our 3 ½ hours plus of constant dance and movement on game day!!
Truly, I feel I can speak for all Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders (MVC) and say that game day is celebration from the moment the alarms goes off in the morning. I am sure there is no pressing snooze on a game day! Why? Well, we are only guaranteed 10 home games (2 preseason, 8 regular season). Only 10 opportunities to dance, perform and cheer live for the best team and fan in the NFL! To dance, cheer, and perform live for 64,000 fans is definitely on my tops 10 list of why I love being an MVC.
So, you now see why we, not only MVC but all Vikings Fans, must never take the 10 home games for granted. With that said, you also know there is always an opportunity to have more than 10 home games. YES! If we are lucky, well, no not if lucky we are lucky, because this year the MN Vikings have such an AB FAB (absolutely fabulous), strong roster with AP, Favre, Jared, really all of our defense, offense and special teams we are sure to play in a couple of home turf playoff games including, hopefully, the NFC Championship game!!
As an MVC, our game day preparation really beings way back at the end of April when the MVC team is announced. We begin with photo shoots, team workouts, Spalon Hair treatments, medical spa treatments at Expression MD, tanning at Golden Tan, 3 practices a week learning cheers/sidelines/end zone dances, business meetings to learn the ins and outs of the Vikings Organization and Viking Football, charity and sponsorship appearances, etc all to lead up to the 2009 season! All summer long we prepare and the week of a game is when I really start to get the little butterflies in my stomach!!
I am so excited for tonight’s game against the team with a single star on their helmet, the Dallas Cowboys!! We may go 4 – 0 the preseason. The last time we went 4 – 0 we had an amazing year. Which, as you may recall, didn’t finish too hot, but this year I know we will go all the way!!
Next game day is home opener and I look forward to share the game day experience with you from an NFL cheerleaders perspective.
See you at the dome!
Go Vikes!
