Deadline day for would-be stadium operators

The time is now for companies interested in managing the daily operations of the new Minnesota Multi-Purpose Stadium.

The MMPS isn't expected to open until the summer of 2016, but the requests for qualifications are due to the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) Thursday.

The authority will go into a closed-door executive session Friday to discuss the submissions. The private negotiatons are expected to take a while and won't be public until the ink goes on a contract.

The Minnesota Vikings will be the primary tenant of the MMPS. The Purple along with the authority will decide who to hire as the stadium's operator. The authority will contract with the operator. Got it?

Cost parameters aren't publicly available.

The MMPS operator is responsible for game-day staffing, maintenance operations and marketing of big events. Not exactly exciting stuff from an outside perspective, but critical to a well-run MMPS, no doubt.

On the most important subject of food: Aramark already has the contract to run the concessions.

Other than fried cheese (a Packers joke), what would you like to see on the menu in the new MMPS?
