The Vikings have announced a practice squad move this afternoon, signing running back Joe Banyard to fill the hole left when Jacksonville signed Jordan Todman off the Vikings' practice squad .

Banyard is a rookie running back out of the University of Texas-El Paso. He went undrafted last April but later signed with Jacksonville as a free agent. After being waived by the Jaguars, he landed with New Orleans. Banyard had 25 carries for 93 yards during five preseason games with the Saints. New Orleans placed Banyard on injured reserve at the end of the preseason and later waived him with an injury settlement.

Apparently, he is now healthy and will get a look from the Vikings.

Todman was acquired by the Vikings last December off the San Diego practice squad following Adrian Peterson's knee injury. Todman was bothered by a sprained ankle through much of the preseason but delivered a 10-carry, 114-yard effort in the preseason finale in Houston. That wasn't enough to earn Todman a spot on the 53-man roster but he was re-signed to the practice squad. Now, he's headed to Jacksonville to compete for an opportunity.
