Percy Harvin in full participation mode at this week's OTA

You can all breathe a sigh of relief now. Vikings receiver Percy Harvin was back at practice Tuesday. Just in the nick of time, too -- three months and four days before the 2012 season opener.
Turns out that routine and minor shoulder surgery Harvin had back in late-April was indeed routine and minor after all. The procedure only cost Harvin three practice sessions during organized team activities last week.
Now as the Vikings enter Week 2 of OTAs, Harvin is back practicing. He says he feels great with some expected soreness in his shoulder still lingering. Still, there are no fears -- and never have been -- that Harvin's shoulder surgery will limit his availability when training camp opens in Mankato seven weeks from now.
After today's OTA, Harvin visited briefly with Mike Wobschall of Vikings.com. The Vikings' top receiver laughed when asked about last week's OTA highlight: the hill sprints he ran with rehabilitating running back Adrian Peterson. Harvin contends he was beating Peterson up the hill most of the time.
"I won eight out of 10. He won the last two," Harvin said. "It's just crazy that those were the two that they recorded. Like I say, he's doing a great job. I was just out here to push him. It's always good to have that bunny in front of you kind of pushing you. So the drill was for him. He's doing an incredible job and I can't wait to see him back on the field."
Harvin also had praise for new receiver Jerome Simpson.
"We love him so far," Harvin said. "He's a student in the classroom. He looks real smooth out here with his routes. He's going to add another dimension to this team that we needed."
The Vikings return to the field Wednesday morning at Winter Park with a practice that will be open to the media.
