Christian Ponder may be the most popular guy in town right now. The Vikings rookie quarterback will make his starting debut Sunday afternoon against the Packers at Mall of America Field. And now, after fans around the Twin Cities had to wait a month-and-a-half for Ponder's promotion, the young quarterack will spend Monday night waiting on the fans.
Ponder, running back Adrian Peterson and several other Vikings have all agreed to participate in Chad Greenway's "Celebrity Waiter Night," a charity event that will be held Monday at Manny's Steak House in downtown Minneapolis. The function will benefit Greenway's Lead the Way Foundation, an organization which provides aid for critically and chronically ill children throughout the Twin Cities.
The night will include a five-course dinner at Manny's with several Vikings standouts teaming together as the wait staff.
In addition to Ponder, Peterson and Greenway, defensive tackle Kevin Williams, punter Chris Kluwe, offensive linemen Pat Brown and John Sullivan, tight ends Jim Kleinsasser and Kyle Rudolph and long snapper Cullen Loeffler are all scheduled to be on hand.
Tickets for the event start at $350. To make reservations or fore information on the event, visit Greenway's website at www.chadgreenway.org.
