Perhaps Donovan McNabb is right. Maybe today's game against the Lions at the Metrodome really is a must-win situation.

The Vikings are 0-2 and looking at this daunting statistic:

Since the NFL expanded its playoff field to 12 teams in 1990, only three 0-3 teams have made the playoffs. They were the 1992 Chargers, who actually started 0-4, the 1995 Lions and the 1998 Bills. So it's been 13 years since it happened.

The Vikings were 0-2 10 times before this season. Seven times, they won their third game, including last year when they beat the Lions at the Metrodome.

The Vikings started 0-4 in 2002 and 1967, and 0-5 in 1962.

Here's another stat that helps explain why the Vikings are struggling:

Through Week 2, a record 31 of 32 NFL teams have scored 22 or more points in a game this season. The only team that hasn't is the Vikings.
