Vikings coach Leslie Frazier made it clear on Monday that Pro Bowl running back Adrian Peterson would report to training camp on Sunday, despite the fact he will be entering the final season of his contract and certainly will be looking for a long-term deal sooner rather than later.

But that doesn't mean Peterson is going to be happy when he shows up in Mankato.

One of his best friends on the Vikings was wide receiver Sidney Rice, they both came into the NFL in 2007, and now they are going to be former teammates. Rice agreed to a five-year, $41 million deal with Seattle on Wednesday that includes $18.5 million in guarantees.

"I CAN'T Believe the Vikings let my boy Sidney Rice get away!" Peterson said late Wednesday on his verified Twiiter account that has 107,489 followers. "I didn't think we wouldn't be playing together this year! WOW!"

The Vikings made a strong attempt to keep Rice, although it's not certain how much guaranteed money they offered, but clearly Peterson isn't happy that his friend will be playing elsewhere. This might not be good news if Peterson decides he wants to follow Rice out of town. (One would think the Vikings are going to start talks on a contract extension with Peterson as soon as possible.)

The Vikings will see Rice in the preseason. The Seahawks will play host to Minnesota on Aug. 20. Meanwhile, the Peterson situation will be one that is worth monitoring.
