The Vikings have said they would like to add a veteran quarterback once the lockout ends to help mentor rookie Christian Ponder and Joe Webb.

A veteran also could serve as a bridge quarterback while Ponder gets up to speed after losing offseason workouts because of the ongoing lockout. A number of names have been mentioned as possibilities, and ESPN's Chris Mortensen added Denver's Kyle Orton to that list Friday. (via ProFootballTalk.com)

Mortensen tweeted that Orton is on the Vikings "radar" in response to a question from a follower. Orton has started 61 games in six seasons. It's been widely speculated that the Broncos are looking to trade Orton. Mike Klis of the Denver Post speculated last month that Orton is worth a second- or third-round pick.
